SmallCapNetwork.com, a site specializing in finding small stock trading opportunities, has issued technical trade alerts for Ann Taylor Stores and XOMA Ltd. The trading analysis team's complete rationale for both picks can be accessed here: http://access.smallcapnetwork.com/Technical-Trade-Alerts-Ann-Taylor-Stores-ANN-and-XOMA-Ltd-XOMA/af/archive/20090209-1/.

Ann Taylor shares lost approximately 80% of their value between September and November of last year. While it is true that all retailers struggled during that very tough portion of the recession, investors may have overestimated just how bad things were for Ann Taylor Stores.

The timing of the short-term 'buy' suggestion stems from two months worth of sideways movement for the stock, and the strong possibility of a breakout effort now being made. The upper edge of the sideways range is being firmly tested.

XOMA Ltd. shares also experienced a brutal selloff in the fourth quarter of last year, sinking as much as 70% at its lowest point. Again though, it may have been an undeserved rout.

More important to traders, the downtrend has now turned into an uptrend. XOMA shares crossed back above some key moving average lines, thanks largely to news that Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) was entering Phase III trials with a drug built on one of XOMA's technologies. That strong move not only broke the stock out of a rut, but the news could continue to inspire upward movement as more investors become aware of Pfizer's decision.
