Online Marketing Profiles Get Very Specific (AUGT, ACXM, ATRN)
Defining Data Driven by Search Engine Marketing will be profitable; someday.
All of the following companies, Augme Technologies Inc (OTC:AUGT), Acxiom Corporation (NASDAQ:ACXM), and Atrinsic, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATRN) are often called technology service companies, which has a very broad application, but they are in essence advertising, marketing, and statistical companies that sell client goods to mobile and online customers.
I think this business, though viable right now, is still in its infancy and will grow and grow.
Augme Technologies Inc (OTC:AUGT) for example provides interactive marketing platforms that enable marketers and advertising agencies to integrate brands, promotions, video and other digital content through the Internet and mobile communications and operates in three business units: mobile marketing (AD LIFE), video content broadcasting and delivery (AD BOOM) and ad network provisioning (AD SERVE).
Last week AUGT received Notices of Issuance from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office about AUGT patent applications filed originally by JAGTAG, Inc. and acquired AUGT in July. What this does for the Company is further protect their intellectual property marketing business.
The stock was trading at $3.62 on Sept 26 and is currently trading in the $2.22 range; a loss of 38% in a little less than two months. Nice discount for new buyers looking for ‘entry level’ value. The Company put 9,400,000 shares in a public offering to raise capital and the dilution factor is responsible for most of the loss.
But one look at Acxiom Corporation (NASDAQ:ACXM) will tell a quite different story. The Company shares were trading in the $9.51 range on Oct 3 and are currently trading in the $13.01 range; a gain of 36% in six weeks.
The Company posted Q2 EPS of $0.15 amidst a small revenue increase on Oct 26 and shares have picked up ever since. ACXM technologies manage audiences through data and help its clients to personalize online experiences and create customer relationships. It does this for clients in the financial services, insurance, consumer packaged goods, automotive, and healthcare business.
And finally take a look at Atrinsic, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATRN) which is the marketer of the Kazaa digital music service, and Atrinsic Interactive, an internet search marketing agency. The Company released its Q3 ’11 results today with revenues increasing 34% to $12.3 million YOY. But the Company posted a net loss of -$0.72 per diluted share and that’s why there isn’t much shareholder fanfare today.
I haven’t, don’t, and do not intend on holding any of the companies mentioned in this article.
