The cutting edge of the studies and research done by nanomedicine companies NanoViricides Inc (OTC:NNVC), Arrowhead Research Corp (NASDAQ:ARWR), and Rexahn Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NYSEAMEX:RNN) has lifted share valuations and brought about some very happy long-term shareholders.

Look at NNVC to start… shares were trading in the $0.53 range on Jan 23 and after some good news on one of its product candidates; share have risen to its current $0.69 range; a gain of 30% in less than two weeks.

The NanoViricides news came in anticipation of its highly effective anti-influenza drug candidate, FluCide, being submitted to the FDA, which it was today, and that a meeting to would take place in March-April 2012 to discuss with the FDA planned toxicological studies, as well as a general plan for the early human clinical trials and chemical manufacturing and controls of FluCide. NNVC has an active drug pipeline focused around five major products.

At Arrowhead Research, shares were trading at $4.02 on Dec 30 and are currently trading in the $5.03 range; a gain of 25% in a month. ARWR nano-engineering is focused on treatment of cancer and obesity, as well as the regeneration of wounded or diseased tissue.

Earlier last month ARWR and Alnylam Pharmaceuticals sealed a licensing deal with Arrowhead giving Alnylam access to crucial drug delivery technology once owned by Swiss drug giant Roche.

And at nanomedicine company Rexahn Pharmaceuticals, shares were trading at $0.35 on Dec 28 and are currently trading in the $0.65 range; a gain of 85% in less than five weeks. RNN has three drug candidates in Phase II clinical trials and seven or more other drug candidates in pre-clinical development, some of which are nano-polymer anticancer drugs.

JAN was a good month for RNN with Hungarian Regulatory Authority giving a thumbs up to Phase I studies of the Company’s first human trials to treat solid body tumors with RNN’s RX-3117 drug candidate. Last week RNN published new pre-clinical data for its RX-5902 drug candidate that is aimed at developing an orally deliverable potent anti-cancer drug.

I haven’t, don’t, and do not intend on holding any of the companies mentioned in this article.
