How About Collecting Electricity from a Sunlit Window (OTC:NENE)
NENE successfully fabricates the largest-area photovoltaic module ever produced in the U.S.
Shareholders of New Energy Technologies, Inc. (OTC:NENE) should be very, very happy as shares are up from $1.14 on Dec 29 to their current price of $2.15; a gain of 88.5% in less than two months.
A big part of that run-up came this month and a spike from yesterday on the news that the Company, a developer of innovative technologies for generating sustainable electricity, and the United States Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory announced that Company and NREL scientists collaboratively developing New Energy’s SolarWindow technology, capable of generating electricity on see-through glass, had successfully fabricated the largest-area organic photovoltaic (OPV) module ever produced at the United States.
Scientists developing New Energy’s SolarWindow technology fabricated an area of 170 square centimeters (cm2) on a working module: more than 14-times larger any previous OPV devices fabricated at NREL.
Generating Electricity on Glass Windows…
Said John A. Conklin, President and CEO of New Energy Technologies, “In 2012, our focus is on aggressively advancing our SolarWindow technology towards commercialization with larger scale, high-speed manufacturing, higher voltage and bolstered power output, and greater transparency.”
Currently under development for eventual commercial deployment in the estimated 85 million commercial buildings and homes in America, SolarWindow is the subject of ten new patent filings and is the world’s first-of-its-kind technology capable of generating electricity on see-through glass windows.
NENE is also developing “MotionPower” which is a roadway system for generating electricity by capturing the kinetic energy produced by moving vehicles, a patent-pending technology and the subject of 33 U.S. and International patent applications. An estimated 250 million registered vehicles drive more than six billion miles on America’s roadways, every day.
You have to admire the forward-thinking engineers at NENE.
