This business has a monicker that borders on the off-color, but Getfugu Inc. (OTCBB: GFGU) hopes to be a mover and shaker within the movile phone world.

Just recently, the San Francisco-based company unveiled its next generation search tool and new business model that claims to redefine the way mobile phone users will access the web.

The market could be lucrative. With a potential audience of over 3 billion mobile users worldwide, Getfugu has developed the next generation mobile search tool and is expected to launch the BETA version of its application before Labor Day 2009.

CEO Bernie Stolar says the search tool will help consumers retrieve web-based content, saving them the step of actually having to type in a website or search into a browser. They can use any one of four services within the application: vision recognition, voice recognition, location recognition or something called hotspotting. The latter, aimed primarily at advertisers, enables their prospective buyers to purchase or retrieve information about their product by touching that item on the screen. This function is currently limited to touch-screen phones and selected Blackberry models.

Stolar was named to the post in GFGU this month, after more than 20 years in the business, and having Google, Atari, Sony and Sega on his resume (he has been referred to in some circles as a “game evangelist”, catering to the younger, hipper wired bunch who can still while away their time by playing games). Clearly, this is a company out to make some noise.

The stock could still be classified as a bargain, given Stolar’s credentials and the revolutionary new product the company is unveiling. But beware of whipsawing; GFGU’s price has wavered radically between its 52-week peak of $2.80 and its gulch of $1.00 in just over a week (April 6-14 of this year, coinciding with the dizzy news of Stolar’s appointment. The stock found itself around $2.70 on April 15, and whether Getfugu gets going on turning the mobile market upside as soon as it plans to bears watching. Still, those with an appetite for taking on a tad more risk could find themselves with a steal if they act now!
