OTC BB: CBIS Overview

Introduction

Cannabis Science Inc. (OTC: CBIS) is a Denver, Colorado-based biotechnology company engaged in the development of pharmaceutical cannabis products.

CBIS is at the forefront of pharmaceutical grade medical marijuana research and development, working with world authorities on phytocannabinoid science targeting critical illnesses. CBIS is dedicated to the creation of cannabis-based medicines, both with and without psychoactive properties to treat disease and the symptoms of disease as well as for general health maintenance.

Company Overview

Cannabis Science is entering the pharmaceutical cannabis industry for a number of reasons. Cannabis has been used medicinally for thousands of years, however, until very recently little was known about how it worked. Cannabis has been known to alleviate nausea and stimulate the appetite for people with AIDS and cancer.

Cannabis also other well-known uses, including reliving chronic pain and reducing muscle spasms related with neuromuscular disorders like MS and spinal cord injuries.

CBIS' team of scientists is looking to develop more effective ways to produce and commercialize cannabinoid-based pharmaceutical products.

Cannabis Science sees itself as different from companies in mainstream pharmaceutical industry. The mainstream pharmaceutical industry is capital-intensive and restricted by high regulatory hurdles, which makes profitability of any product a long term prospect. CBIS sees itself differently in three key respects.

  1. CBIS, at least in its first phase, plans to deal mainly in intellectual properties, thereby leaving capital-intensive problems such as regulatory compliance, mass production and marketing to the "old guard" pharmaceutical companies, who license the company's patents.
  2. CBIS is focusing on a relatively new and under-explored area in the pharmaceutical market. While the pharmaceutical industry is by and large geared toward the development and testing of synthetic compounds, CBIS is focusing on whole-plant cannabinoid compounds derived from certified organic ingredients.
  3. CBIS has an established relationship of trust with the U.S. and Canadian medical cannabis patient communities.

Products and Research

Broadly described, Cannabis Science's product is medical cannabis, a term that includes a wide variety of products ranging from plants grown by patients for their own use to pharmaceutical products developed from one or more of the cannabinoid compounds found in the whole cannabis plant.

CBIS offers investors a novel opportunity to participate in producing groundbreaking products that will impact some of the most important medical concerns.

CBIS is targeting the multi-billion dollar pain management industry. The company is also in a unique position to pursue the development of blood pressure and cancer medications.

Cannabis Science is currently working with global authorities to pursue the development of cannabis-based therapeutics that will fully promote health by restoring biochemical balance.

Bird flu, a strain (H5N1) of influenza A, will evolve to infect human beings. The bird fly is different from other strains as it has the enhanced capacity to kill infected individuals. The common cause of death among patients with the strain is adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). CBIS believes that the magnitude of the bird flu threat is so great that positive results from its research in the area would facilitate the acceptance of cannabis-based pharmaceuticals.

Cannabis Science also sees itself as uniquely positioned to explore insight that shows an intrinsic link between novel cancer and HIV technologies and the cannabinoid system. CBIS expects to demonstrate that its pharmaceuticals will improve biochemical markers that are indicative of a successful HIV therapy based on recent paradigm breaking discoveries.

CBIS is following two parallel paths for product development. CBIS is creating pharmaceuticals with and without psychoactive properties. The company expects both the lines to have numerous health benefits for treating illnesses and for general health maintenance.
